PORT STEPHENS FLY FISHING (New South Wales)

Finishing the Cairns marlin season in December "Allure" heads south to the pristine marlin fishing waters just north of Sydney called Port Stephens.

Based here from January through to April the Allure crew have had wonderful saltwater fly fishing for the past 2 seasons, including 4 world records and a number of other exceptional captures. Striped marlin, black marlin, blue marlin and short bill spearfish have all be found in the waters around Port Stephens, but it is the brilliant striped marlin fishing for fish in the 150lb to 250lb range that sets it apart from the other destinations.

It is not uncommon in these waters to consistently raise 6 to 12 marlin a day (we have teased as many as 20 in one day). If you want to catch marlin on fly, come join my most experienced crew for the next big challenge, a marlin over 200lb on fly tackle.

 

LIGHT TACKLE FISHING

Excellent light tackle or ultra light tackle opportunities also exist off Port Stephens. With this many shots at billfish and the awesome spectacle of bait and switch fishing, an angler can enjoy excellent numbers fishing with 50lb tackle or the challenge of a good sized marlin on ultra light tackle.

Port Stephens is a beautiful town right on the coast just 2 hours drive north of Sydney. Great dining and accommodation make this place an especially enjoyable fishing destination.
